As a developer, most Apps seem to be worth a dime a dozen to me.  I really pay attention to user functionality and how fast the App operates, so it’s hard to impress me.  The other day I was asked to review a new App called Stock Touch.  I was a little reluctant, as I do not deal with stocks that much but I’m always up at looking at new Apps.  I must say that I was quite impressed with how clean the App looked.   It looks a bit overwhelming but after watching a tutorial, which is included with the App, it was a breeze.   User functionality is amazing in this App, from selecting favorites to the nine different categories, everything flows well.

If you need to keep track of Stocks or your investments, I highly recommend this App.  The developers of this App appear to have really paid attention to user functionality.  Any kind of information you would want to know about your stocks or investments is available.

N.M. Police Use IPads As Crime-Fighting Tool

Turn off or ignore your cell phones. Officers responding Code 3 to a call have been seen talking on their phone on the way to the call. Who are the talking to, their funeral director?

How about the officer who gets out of the car with the Bluetooth in his ear? What are you thinking? Who is so important that you have to be instantly available? I can not think of one single person in the world who is so important that I have to be ready to answer the phone the minute they call. The cell phone is one of the greatest innovations to civilization but perhaps one of the most detrimental distractions to law enforcement. Officers don’t have to make decisions, they can call a Sgt. They can talk all the way to the shooting call. They can answer the phone while checking a building. They don’t have to get out of their car and go into a convience store and talk to the local cleark (who, by the way, is a fount of information) in order to use the phone to call a citizen.

Look at the cell phone as another tool and use it accordingly.

The iPhone application has a black background with with white text, this helps and eliminates the loss of night vision during night time operations. It also has a day time display for day shift officers. The third screen helps you translate the warnings from english to spanish. There is also a link to Google Translate. Touch the link and type out what you want to say in english and it translate it to spanish. (Great resource). No longer fumble looking for your miranda card!

There is no need for a flashlight to read a miranda warning ever again! These are the latest miranda warnings established by the U.S. Supreme Court. Just pull out your iPhone or iPod touch and with one push of a button there it is!

The most technologically advanced and convenient way to document, photograph, search and share all aspects of your law enforcement contacts directly to your iPhone. This App also has the NHTSA Standard Field Sobriety Test’s (SFST’s)
Each test is spelled out from start to finish and includes the specific clues to look for established by the NHTSA and the number of clues each test takes to fail.

A .08 chart is also included.

Touch the “More” tab and the manual comes up in a convenient PDF format right there on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. This is an invaluable resource for preparing for court or to just refresh your knowledge.

I made this App and others like it for my fellow brothers and sisters in law enforcement. My hope is that these Apps will make doing our jobs just a bit more convenient and assist us in our safety during roadside investigations.
